Don Broco Rocked Sold-Out Show in Mesa, AZ

It only makes sense that I jumped back into the scene with a Don Broco show at the Nile, as that was the last show I photographed back in 2023. This sold-out show at the Nile Theater in Mesa, AZ, was a night to remember for fans of Don Broco as well as their openers, Sace6 and Dropout Kings, who are local to Arizona and had plenty of support in the crowd.

Kicking off the night was Sace6, who recently signed with Sumerian Records and released their latest single, “ego” at the same time. Performing hit singles such as “wake up” and “devotion”, they had the crowd dancing and singing along to the viral songs that have been flooding everyone’s socials these past few months as fans slowly packed into the venue.

Next to take the stage was locals, Dropout Kings, a genre-bending metal group from Phoenix, AZ, who effortlessly blend rap and metal together. They immediately took the stage with high energy, getting the crowd going. Throughout their set, local fans cheered them on and sang every lyric back to them. As their set went on, the venue filled to the entrance at the back, making it a tight fit, but the fans did not mind. “Yokai” and “GlitchGang” were definitely crowd favorites, as you could hear fans singing along.

Lastly, Don Broco kicked off their set with one of their recent singles, “Cellophane”, which has been a personal favorite, as I love Don Broco’s heavier songs. This immediately got the crowd going as everyone screamed and cheered, trying to get as close to the stage as possible. If you have ever been to a Don Broco show, then you know the energy that they bring to their sets is unmatched. In the first two songs, lead singer Rob Damiani said this might be the best show of the tour, and as an Arizona native, I can confirm that our crowds bring a whole different energy. Later in their set after their song, “Fingernails”, Damiani confirmed that Arizona was the best show of the tour so far.

The crowd let loose during their set, moshing and crowd-surfing while the boys had fun up on stage. You can always tell that the members of Don Broco enjoy what they do because of how much they smile while up on stage. They always hype up their openers too, talking about how Arizona made bands always bring insane talent to the stage, such as Dropout Kings and had the crowd sing “Happy Birthday” to Noah Thomas from Sace6, who ran out from backstage, mid-tattoo, to thank the crowd and Damiani, who orchestrated the early birthday celebrations. Enjoying the crowd's rowdy energy, Damiani chose 3 fans to come up and stage dive during “Everybody”, the fans and a lifesize cut out of Chad Kroeger from Nickelback made their way around the venue throughout the song before they closed out their set with an encore of their classic, “T-Shirt Song” and another recent single, “Hype Man”.
