The New York City based black metal allies TELOCH VOVIN and VISERION have joined forces on The Iron Age Of Kali Yuga, which is set for independent release on July 28th. TELOCH VOVIN’s material for The Iron Age Of Kali Yuga was produced by Grigori, engineered/recorded/mixed by Antonio (Ash) Padilla, and mastered by Mike Usifer at Aural Assault Studio.

Severed Angel is a melodic metal band made up of veterans in the northeastern metal scene. In 2018 Wayne Noon (Phoenix Reign, Project Resurrect) started the Rat Salad Review network to promote the metal scene.

Crawling out of the grips of addiction, depressions and the never ending drawl of a 9-5 New Orleans natives and cousins, Scott Arcenaux, Jr. a.k.a. $crim and Aristos Petrou a.k.a. The New England based metalcore/post-hardcore outfit, May We Meet Again, have released “Wallflower”. The track is the second single to be released in anticipation of their debut EP Words Unspoken, which is due to release this spring. “Wallflower” can be related to the work of many praised artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, Saving Vice and Invent Animate.

Forming almost 20 years ago, Veil of Maya has pushed the limits on metalcore with a techno background. After their last release in 2017, the band released 3 singles leading up to the long awaited release of ‘[m]other’.

Pulling influence from math rock and progressive rock, Dance Gavin Dance is known for their high clean vocals with the mix of screams and technical instrumentals, their sound was dubbed ‘Swancore’ after guitarist, Will Swan. Other bands started to fit the bill within the subgenre and suddenly Swancore was becoming more and more recognizable. Creating a fest that consisted of a line up of only the subgenre seemed like the next best step, Swanfest had its inaugural date back in 2019 with a mix of alt bands and math rock. After the release of the band’s chart topper album, ‘Jackpot Juicer’ Swanfest continued with a longer list for a line-up but still keeping the fest at one day only.

New York-based alt-metal songstress Crystal Joilena continues to release powerful tracks that combine pop melodies with hard-edged levels of darkness. Her latest single is the spiritually charged and emotional track, “The High Priestess.” The song is representative of Joilena’s approach to her art which combines the power of metal with an appreciation of beauty and introspection.

It had been a long time since I had been at the Crescent Ballroom, which lays smack dab in the middle of the college town in Phoenix. British rock band Hot Milk have announced a new single off their debut album A Call to the Void. The track is titled, “Party on My Deathbed” and it is a sonic party anthem about reckless nights and backstage parties. “Party on My Deathbed” expresses the hedonistic lifestyle that Hot Milk lives and preaches.

The notorious horror themed metalcore outfit, Ice Nine Kills, have announced their US headlining tour ‘Fear The Premier’. The tour will begin on August 8th and will showcase a spectacular lineup with support from August Burns Red and Veil of Maya (August 8th-August 11th) and Set It Off and The Plot In You (August 15-September 1st). Mike’s Dead will be opening for every date on the tour. Artist presale begins May 16th at noon with additional presales throughout the week. On June 9th the San Diego hardcore/punk band Toxins will be releasing their first ever full length album “Existential Dread”. They get their influences from melodic hardcore and skate punk and turn them into catchy, fast paced absolute masterpieces on this 10 track album.

On May 5th The Smashing Pumpkins released their highly anticipated album, ATUM. The 33 track 3 part album is a sequel to 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and 2000’s Machina/Machine of God and was written and produced by Corgan over the last 4 years. Act 3 has a special edition box set featuring all 33 album tracks plus 10 unreleased songs, which are available here.

‘DOGMA’, the fifth studio album from genre-bending, modern post-metalcore quartet, Crown The Empire is out now via Rise Records. Alongside the release, the band premieres the music video for “Superstar.” The track, featuring Palaye Royale’s Remington Leith, will join the album’s previously released singles “Black Sheep,” “DOGMA,” “Immortalize,” “In Another Life” featuring Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante, and “Dancing With The Dead.”

The multi-platinum rap rock band Hollywood Undead share the music video for “House of Mirrors” featuring multi-genre sensation Jelly Roll. Available exclusively on the digital version of Hotel Kalifornia Deluxe, the song is a story of self-reflection and was co-written with Jelly Roll in a studio session last year.

Covet released their fourth studio album ‘catharsis’ on April 7th of this year, after only a little over a month of the release the band has put the music video for the opening track ‘coronal’ out into the world.
