Coming from the jungle of Brooklyn, Daisy the Great started off as the duo of Kelley Nicole Dugan and Mina Walker who crafted the viral Tiktok hit, The Record Player Song, in 2017. Since their success they have released two full length albums and have flushed out their band for a full six-piece, featuring Matt Lau on guitar, Bernardo Ochoa on bass, Matti Dunietz on drums, and Brie Archer on additional vocals. In May of 2023, the group released Glitter II, a complaint to 2022’s Glitter before releasing their new single, Looking U Up.

New England based band Carpathia is Alternative , Progressive Metal . They just released their first full album “ The Mooring” earlier this year . It is now out with haunting tracks such as “ Low Tides” and “ Claudius” you can find CARPATHIA on all major platforms. I caught up with Lead Vocalist Samatha Alice at a show they were playing in Worcester , Massachusetts at “ The Raven Nightclub” briefly touching base on the nights set list with songs on the list such as title track “ Sacrifice” from their EP “ 1912 “ released in 2019 also available on Spotify.

Hardcore fans of thrash metal will be excited to know that the Danish kings of the genre Artillery are back and set to headline a North American tour. The band will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a sixteen-date tour starting off at The Underground Café in Minneapolis on September 29th and closing at St. Vitus Bar in Brooklyn on October 14th. Along the way, Artillery will make an appearance at the Blades of Steel Festival at the Crucible in Madison, Wisconsin which features other legendary thrash acts such as Flotsam and Jetsam, Exciter, and Riot V, among many others.

The metalcore legends Underoath have released their newest single, “Lifeline (Drowning)”. They recently released the acoustic version of “Let Go”, which received acclaim from Revolver, Alternative Press, and Kerrang. It has been close to a year since Loss Becomes released their self-titled album back from October, 2022. Long Island nu metal and metalcore band ‘Loss Becomes’ consists of vocalist Anthony Copozzi (Thracian), guitarist Brian Tsao (Pro Chef Reacts), bassist Will Gomez (Tiger Flowers) guitarist Anthony Lopardo (Westfall Recording Company) and lastly drummer Sean Ageman (Washed Up Media). Nashville-based singer/songwriter Caroline Romano has released her newest single “This House”. The track will be featured on her upcoming EP, A Brief Epic, which is set for release on July 28th.

Los Angeles rock group, Tiger Kid, has evolved over time to become a solo act to a 5-piece. Fusing late 90s hard rock with modern alternative is what their new single, Drive is all about and is out now.

Emi Pop hails originally from San Juan Puerto Rico, where the blend of Latin and Underground punk started. Small beginnings, Emi started out as the vocalist and guitarist in Mely Y los Poppers back in Puerto Rico followed by a stint as bassist in Los Pepiniyoz, Emi has now found her home in Seattle’s underground music scene. From honing her skills as a guitarist for diverse Seattle acts such as On The Make, Famous Lizards, and most recently horror punks 38 Coffin, Emi Pop lives and breathes straightforward rock 'n roll and weaves beautiful melodies that become deeply imbedded earworms.

Over the past decade, Frankie and the Witch Fingers have operated as an outright force of nature, offering up a revelatory form of psych-rock that hits on both a primal and ecstatically mind-bending level. A few weeks away from the release of their 4th studio album, MisterWives are marking their growth in the industry with leaps and bounds of changes for their sound. Ultraviolet is a melody that encapsulates the new age that social media created for the world going forward, an ‘information tidal wave’ as lead singer, Mandy Lee, croons at the start of Ultraviolet. Along with the release of the single, the music video that partners the song shows Mandy in a field on a mountain with arrows jutting out of her back. Possibly the arrows are a metaphor for the eyes that come with social media and how easily loving eyes of fans can turn into daggers with a flip of the metaphorical switch.

In honor of their latest record Steady as well as the re-pressing of 2007’s Never Hear the End of It, Canadian power pop/indie rockers Sloan came to NYC to perform two sets at Bushwick’s Brooklyn Made. There was no opening act, just an intimate evening with the band. Beginning in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1991 and moving to Toronto later on, Sloan are best known for their storytelling, tight harmonies, and infectious hooks. As each member sings their own songs and trades their instruments throughout the night, there’s always something different for fans and new listeners to latch onto.

Known for their brutal and technical style, Crown Magnetar have just released another heavy, yet melodic and emotional track, ‘Prismatic Tomb’ off their upcoming album “Everything Bleeds”. While keeping true to their signature style, “Prismatic Tomb” shows a more emotional side to them. With melancholic breakdowns, haunting, aggressive vocals and a little bit of choir for depth and ambiance, you can capture the emotion of loss and mourning backed up by their usual technical riffs and blast beat drumming.

What fans have grown to expect from this rough-and-rowdy crew, Bite is an intricately constructed concept album, a dense tale about its protagonist’s ultimately tragic days in a “virtual utopia” called Avalonia. New sounds and textures abound, including, most notably, sumptuous string arrangements.

Ursa Major is a 3-day GRiZ curated event at the beautiful Pepsi Amphitheater and campground in Flagstaff, AZ. Ursa Major will feature live music, workshops, art, craft vending, and a chance to gather and celebrate as a community. Flagstaff is known for its weather type differing from the rest of the desert lands of Arizona, campers of the event will enjoy the Arizona days that are much cooler to most Arizona cities.
