Nowhere is this more evident than in newest song from New York-based thrash metal band Generation Kill. The song, titled “Rat King,” is based on a rather nightmarish scenario involving vermin.

On June 30th, the metal band King Woman released their NSFW music video for their second single ‘Psychic Wound’ off the sophomore album “Celestial Blues” which is set to be released on July 30th. This outfit features songwriter, vocalist and “tour de force of gloom and woe” (Rolling Stone) Kris Esfandiari. This one woman project perfectly blends elements of sludge, doom, death metal, and goth which gracefully sets the tone to be both crushing and eerily sensual.

On July 1st, the heavy metal band Once Human released their first single in a year titled Deadlock and announced their third studio album Scar Weaver set to be released on February 11th, 2022. As Lady Gaga released her latest record “Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary” on June 25th, British singer Olly Alexander from Years and Years joins the tracklist with his cover of “The Edge of Glory”. His re-envisioning of the track is glamorous, with a heavy, glimmering synth backtrack that compliments Olly’s crystalline, soprano voice. The cover does absolute justice with a bassier mix and refreshing, passionate vocals in comparison to the original Lady Gaga song. Unfortunately, no sax solo near the 3-minute mark like in the original track. Small price to pay for a masterful cover.
